If true freedom from the 9 to 5 grind is what you are looking for then a conventional business or a job, no-matter how high-paying is never going to provide you that freedom. Never. This is a bold statement and I’m sure many will disagree with me but the whole idea of financial freedom is to stop trading the hours in your day for dollars.

The business owner road is one that my partner Belinda and I have been down and now sitting back and seeing things from a different perspective, I can tell you that the hassle, the hard work, the time away from your family just isn’t worth any amount of money that you will make working for yourself. I know that if I read this statement when we were in business for ourselves, I would have disagreed strongly with it. I thought at the time that owning a business was the be-all and end-all of setting yourself up for a life that you deserve and I can tell you now it is the exact opposite!

What if I was to say to you to walk in to work tomorrow and hand in your resignation or close the doors on your business tomorrow? You would say “no way!! I have to make a living somehow!” and you would be right in saying this. However what if you challenge that thinking that to do well in life you have to turn up at work every morning and do your days work and keep doing this over and over again. Why is it that most people hate going to work or complain about the pressures of making money yet so many people never challenge the ‘accepted’ way of thinking towards making money and living?

How many times have you heard “When I win the Lotto”? People pin their hopes and dreams on one-day striking it lucky and winning ‘the big one.’ This is probably why gambling is such a big problem in our society but I suppose that is another subject all to itself. Why settle for day-dreaming about the life you want for yourself and the people around you? Aren’t the dreams you have for your life worth chasing with every little bit of energy that you can squeeze out of your body? Of course they are, too many people talk themselves out of it without even giving a second thought to the possibilities of living the way they want to.

I am going to write a bit aggresively here, which is unusual for me except when the subject is so close to my heart like this one. If your boss or your customers or whatever wanted you to do something that you know would be pushing yourself a bit too far, either physically or mentally, would you do it? What if your job depended on it? Of course you would, or at the very least give it a good try. Well now is the time to adopt that style of thinking to your own situation and seriously think of what your life would be like when you are living it the way you want to, the way you deserve to. Now is the time to step up and take full control of your destiny and start working towards the life YOU want, not the life that you have settled for.

Let me tell you a little of my story from the last two years. I promise not to make it too long and bore you! Once our business was closed down and I had all the time in the world to do bugger-all I discovered computers and specifically the internet. Now I have come from someone that didn’t know a keyboard from a mouse to someone that can put a website together, do basic programming, write reasonably well, but my biggest asset (and I don’t mean my bum!) is that I have a burning desire to achieve the life I want for myself and my family and that has taken me to places that I thought I would never go. Me a website author? Don’t think so, I can barely turn a computer on! Me actually starting to make money online? Hah, yeah right! I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be in this situation, I was a motor mechanic with a thriving business and not alot of interest in my family remember!

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if the desire is strong enough you will find ways to overcome any obstacle that is in your way without even giving it a second thought. I can only spend a limited time at my computer due to my back injury so we bought a laptop for $100 and a wireless keyboard and mouse and this is what I’m using now. The laptop is an absolute crapper, but it does the job I need it to. When I make enough money I will be replacing it but it goes to show that if the goal is important enough you will do whatever it takes to get the job done.

What I see for us is passive income streams from the online projects that I have planned out and if you think that you could do with a few more bucks in your pocket jump on our coat tails and come for the ride.
